Dissidia

I bought Dissidia on Tuesday (the day came out) and...well, I like it and it's addictive...but...
Graphics: 9/10
Music: 9/10
WTF?! 10/10
Gameplay 9/10
Characters: 9/10
-The graphics are really good for PSP. I'm not sure why I only gave it a 9...oh, and Squall looks more awesome than he did in VIII.

-The music is some of the best music from each of the games in the first 10 numbered games.

-The gameplay receives a WTF factor of 10. It's...well, have you ever considered combining Chess, One-on-One battles, and the clichéd plot of every other Final Fantasy? Well, that's what it is. You move around on the board and fight monsters until you get to the Chaos Insignia (I think it's Insignia...) at the end.

-The controls are fairly simple, but at the same time, they're hard to control. In battle, you use Circle to use Bravery Attacks (lower the attack power of the enemy while raising yours, but not doing damage to HP) and Square to attack HP. It's possible to only have to use ONE HP attack on your enemy. Oh, you can also use X to evade and Triangle and R to jump toward your enemy. Every once in a while, you can gain EX "power" (My term) to go into EX "Mode", which has various benefits individual per person. If you hit with an HP attack in this time and are successful with some button pressing (again, individual per character), you can unleash a REALLY powerful attack.

-There is one of the main characters from each of the first 10 numbered Final Fantasys (that looks weird, but it's proper, like with last names) and the final boss of the individual game (which you have to unlock). My only complaint is they should have had Rikku instead of Tidus and...what's-her-name instead of Terra.

Notice, I didn't once mention the plot. Guess why?

  1. Cause the plot is:

Random dude that looks like a chick is minding his own business when a chick who "isn't" a princess of some type randomly bumps into him. Then this dude "realizes" he has powers and must protect said "not a princess" until they find the magic (whatever) and bring it to fight the evil (whatever) and through that time the princess and guy fall in love. OH and they find random typical characters along the way. Like a funny talking comic relief who is either the thief or the black mage... and the princess is the white mage... and one of the party members is a traitor to the group and he's probably the "other hitter" as the main character "random dude" is also a hitter... and at one point you, as a player, lose the "white mage" but its at that time that you, as the player, are officially told "she is a princess". Then the princess is rescued the evil (whatever) is slain with the magic (whatever) and everyone lives most happily ever after... and between all of this they ride giant birds, airships and even randomly teleport to some place that makes no sense but still does cause someone randomly says "OH YEAH! Did I forget to mention I am A (pick random thing other then princess)?".

I'm sure there is more and that was a LONG ASS "break down" but I'm sure that's the "gist".

  2. Not really...Considering you only play as one character at a time...it's more like...

Fight a few enemies, get to the next area, fight a few more, MID-BOSS, Next area, Kill more enemies, Next area, kill more enemies, MID-BOSS, Next area, Kill more enemies, BIG BAD MEANIE BOSS!

With the ultimate goal of saving the world.
