12 Seconds/Synesthesia

Just going to post two TINY fragments of the novel that I'm eventually going to publish. Both of these fragments are from chapter 2. If you want, feel free to suggest a title, although, at the moment I prefer Synesthesia.

"....Still staying low, I follow closely as she runs to the barn. We run in. We couldn't hide here for long. From the looks of it, the whole barn would fall from a little touch to the side. We run out the other side to the field. When we gets to the edge of the field, Erin shoves me down. She dives in front of me, dropping to her stomach. She starts army-crawling through it.

She must not be used to doing this dressed like she is. There's not much to see but wheat and the contents of her skirt. Hmm, this really could be my Erin; she has the same birthmark on her upper thigh.

Not long after my observation, she stops and motions for me to get ahead of her, her face glowing red. I smile back innocently as I crawl past her...."

"....Why don’t I hear it? Everything slows and the guns sound more like...a heartbeat. What the hell?! I feel a sharp sting and look down. Is that blood?!...."

I may or may not post more later.
